Color Me Mine

A best friend, Sarah, and I were talking about our New Years resolutions back in January, when she gave me a great idea. One of her resolutions was to plan every other month to have an activity date with her husband. It is so easy to go to the movies and dinner, but there are only so many memories with a dinner and a movie date. I was so excited to try this that I quickly thought of a million little activity dates for Lincoln and I. However, they all had to do with being outside and since we live in freezing Ohio, my ideas didn't seem to be all that great. Luckily, a friend of mine, Maria, mentioned that on the last friday of every month there is pajama day at Color Me Mine and the studio fee is only $1.00 if you wear your pajamas. I have some pretty serious rules about wearing my sleeping clothes in public, and Lincoln didn't think wearing his underwear would be a good idea, but we figured something out and met our friends for our activity date.
Here we are being ever so serious in our "pajamas" trying to concentrate on our bowls.
Here is the finished product. Try and guess which one is Lincoln's.

We had a great time. I look forward to all the other activity dates in the future. If you have any ideas or suggestions, I would love to hear them.

That is true, Alex. I am so smart. The only problem is, I haven't even implemented this goal of mine with Dan and I. Ha! How lame is that?! The mugs/bowls are really great! I personally like Mallory's better, but I'm sure that's no shocker. You guys should dress up and go to the opera. Dan did that for me one time in SLC and it was so fun and something we had never done before and have never done since. Of course, that's pretty expensive. I'll keep brainstorming.

I love this date idea! Mallory, you are so creative. I love the paw print you made. Just kidding! I know that one's not yours. Chris and I did that one time while we were dating. The problem was that both of ours looked really bad. We held on to them for a long time for sentimental value, but I finally chucked them and decided we should try again another time. Yours are much better! (and when I say "really bad" I mean they looked like a 3rd grader had done them).

I have a date idea - Whole Foods has cooking classes, take a cooking class and eat too!! Another idea is a "1 hour away date" pick a place that's one hour away, drive there and just check it out. There's lots of little towns, Amish country, scenic drives, it could be a cheap date now that gas it under 2 bucks a gal. Love ya, Mom

Super cute idea. We are so lame and boring. I'll have to copy some idea's that seem fun. And by the way, your bowl is way cuter then Lincoln's.

Hi Mallory! I saw you on Kim's blog. I hope you don't mind me coming by. I have wanted to go to Color Me Mine since I've seen that store. We talked about going on a date there after Ellie was born and making one for her birth--and each child's-still hasn't happened. The prices really freaked me out-so this is good to know. I'll see if we can work up the nerve! :) Your clients saying the darnest things---TOO funny!!!

I always think about going to this place but never have. It looks like fun!
PS My new favorite date activity is taking pictures in the photo booth located inside the store "paper thread" at Polaris Mall. It's an activity that doesn't take very long so the photo booth couldn't be a date all by itself but it is really fun! Jared and I are actually going to stop there tonight! :)

Hey BFF! (This is Jaclyn) I saw your blog link through another blog. Anyway, I have a date suggestion for you. Craig had a tin of loose change he'd collected for awhile and then forgot about. I skimmed out the quarters and pennies, then divided the nickels and dimes equally into sandwich bags (about $7 each). Then I took him to a dollar store. I went in first and had a time limit of 15 minutes to spend the money on items that reminded me of reasons I love him. Then it was his turn while I waited in the car. Afterwards we went home and took turns giving each other dollar store junk and explaining why we chose those items. It was a fun date and relatively cheap.
